To hire a private driver in Bali, send your date, pick-up area and rough plan on WhatsApp, then confirm the fixed price for the car. With Yoi Bali, a full day of up to 10 hours costs IDR 650,000 for an Avanza (up to 4 guests) or IDR 750,000 for an Innova Reborn (up to 5 guests). A half day of up to 5 hours costs IDR 450,000 or IDR 550,000. Driver, fuel and parking are included; tolls, entrance tickets and meals are not.

Hiring a car with driver is one of the most popular ways to explore Bali. You choose the stops, travel at your own pace, and leave the traffic and parking to someone who knows the roads. This guide covers prices, hours, what is included, and practical tips for planning your day.

Private driver Bali prices at a glance

Prices are per car and include the driver. The car is only for your group, so the cost does not change with the number of guests, up to the car’s capacity.

Car Guests Full day (up to 10 h) Half day (up to 5 h) Extra hour
Toyota Avanza Up to 4 IDR 650,000 IDR 450,000 IDR 75,000
Toyota Innova Reborn Up to 5 IDR 750,000 IDR 550,000 IDR 100,000

What is included and what is not

  • Included: private car, driver, fuel and parking.
  • Not included: toll road fees, entrance tickets to temples and attractions, and meals.

Because entrance tickets and meals are paid as you go, you only pay for what you actually visit and eat. Your driver can help you buy tickets at each stop.

How the hours work: half day or full day

The rule is simple: a booking of up to 5 hours is a half day, and anything longer is a full day of up to 10 hours. If you go beyond the booked time, each extra hour is charged at IDR 75,000 for an Avanza or IDR 100,000 for an Innova Reborn.

As a rough guide:

  • Half day suits one area close to your hotel, such as an Uluwatu sunset from Jimbaran or Nusa Dua, a shopping trip, or a single temple visit.
  • Full day suits trips further away, such as Ubud, Kintamani, Bedugul, Tanah Lot or East Bali, or a day with several stops in different areas.

Bali is not large on the map, but roads are often busy and narrow. A drive from South Bali to Ubud usually takes about 1.5 hours, and to Kintamani about 2 to 2.5 hours, so a full day is the comfortable choice for inland trips.

The hours run from the moment your driver picks you up at your hotel until drop-off back at your hotel, so the drive to the first stop is part of your booked time.

Private driver or private tour: what is the difference?

Both options give you a private car and a driver who acts as your tour assistant. The difference is how much planning you want to do.

Car hire with driver Private tour
Route You decide, stop by stop A ready-made route you can still adjust
Best for Travellers with their own list of places Travellers who want a proven plan
Price example Full day from IDR 650,000 (Avanza) Ubud Highlights from IDR 650,000 (Avanza)

Popular private tours include the Ubud Highlights tour (full day from IDR 650,000), the Uluwatu Sunset and Kecak tour (half day from IDR 450,000) and the Kintamani Volcano and Tegalalang tour (full day from IDR 750,000). Every tour is private and the route stays flexible on the day. See all options on the tours page, or book open hours through car hire with driver.

What a good driver does for you

A private driver in Bali is more than transport. With Yoi Bali, the driver also works as your tour assistant. That usually means:

  • Suggesting a sensible order of stops to avoid backtracking and the worst traffic.
  • Helping with entrance tickets, sarongs at temples and parking.
  • Recommending places for lunch that suit your taste and budget.
  • Taking photos of your group at viewpoints.
  • Sharing local tips on customs, temple etiquette and the areas you visit.
  • Adjusting the plan on the day if you want to stay longer, skip a stop or add one.

How to book a private driver in Bali

  1. Decide on half day or full day. Think about how far you want to go and how many stops you want.
  2. Choose the car. An Avanza takes up to 4 guests; an Innova Reborn takes up to 5 and has more space.
  3. Send your plan on WhatsApp. Include the date, hotel, number of guests and the places you want to see. A rough list is fine.
  4. Get one fixed price. The reply confirms the route, the car and one fixed price. No payment is needed to ask.
  5. Confirm and enjoy the day. We confirm the route, car and one fixed price in writing on WhatsApp. No deposit is needed; pay the driver on the day in cash (IDR), or by bank transfer or QRIS. Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pick-up.

Practical tips for your day with a driver

  • Start early. Morning starts mean cooler weather, softer light for photos and quieter roads.
  • Group stops by area. Ubud and Tegalalang fit well together; Uluwatu and the Bukit beaches fit well together.
  • Bring cash. Small rupiah notes are handy for entrance tickets, donations, toilets and snacks.
  • Dress for temples. Cover shoulders and knees; a sarong and sash are needed at most temples.
  • Plan for weather. Mountain areas such as Kintamani and Bedugul can be cool and misty, so bring a light jacket.
  • Tipping. Tipping your driver is not required but is appreciated if you are happy with the service.
