Overview
Mount Batur is an active volcano in the Kintamani highlands of north-east Bali, about 1,700 metres high. Climbing it in the dark to watch the sunrise is one of Bali’s best-known adventures. On a clear morning you see the sun rise over Lake Batur, with Mount Abang and often Mount Agung and Mount Rinjani on Lombok in the distance.
The hike up takes about 2 hours on a path of volcanic sand and rock, with some steep parts near the top. A local guide leads your group with torches and sets the pace. After sunrise you walk back down in daylight. Yoi Bali books a local licensed trekking guide, with the trekking fee, a torch and breakfast at the top included, and gives you a private car and driver, so you can rest on the drive home or add stops such as a coffee plantation or hot springs. Good for active travellers with moderate fitness. Message us on WhatsApp for the plan and one fixed price.
